How Dance Leotards Should Fit

Recreation & Sports Blog

If you are trying to find the right leotard for you to wear for a specific dance, then not only do you want to make sure that it looks good and brings that special touch to the dance, but it will also be important for it to fit you how you need it to. You can follow the tips offered in this article in order to have a better chance of choosing a leotard that fits you the way that you need it to in order to be able to move freely. Here are some of the tips that you want to keep in mind:

It needs to be the right body length

It is extremely important that you go with a leotard that fits the length of your body correctly. If you end up going with one that is even a little too short in the length, then this can really restrict you with many of your movements where you need to stretch upward, or even lean forward or backward.

It needs to fit you correctly in the waist

Since people are all built differently, you want to make sure you get a leotard that goes in where you need it to, instead of being a bit baggy. If you do have a naturally thicker waist, then you will need that extra room because a leotard that is too tight in the waist will make it very uncomfortable for you to do your turns the way you need to.

It needs to fit your shoulders

A leotard must fit your shoulders correctly, or it can restrict most of your arm movements if it is too tight. However, if the leotard has shoulders that are too loose, then you will look sloppy when you do certain movements and the leotard looks as if it is going to fall off of your shoulders.

It needs to fit your chest

The last thing you want to have happen in the middle of your dance is for you to have a very embarrassing wardrobe malfunction where you are exposed. This is why it's so important for you to be absolutely sure the chest area is the right measurement.

It fits your legs

A leotard needs to fit our legs almost perfectly. If it is too tight then it can prevent you from doing certain dance moves correctly or it can even rip. If it's too loose, then it can lead to embarrassing situations where areas you don't want seen get exposed.
